![]() ![]() We took the very traditional fare: prawn dumplings, siew mai (yellow pork dumpling), lotus leaf rice, steamed flat noodle with prawn, none of them was good. Expected result: dry, not fresh, looking tired of life and waiting for a quick death. Dim Sums were ready, meaning they were steamed in the morning and kept steamed for a few hours, waiting their customer. There was almost nobody in the restaurant. Went there on Tuesday 11:00 am with Chinese aveling a lot across Asia, we know about our dim sums, and thought considering the reviews that it would satisfy our little crave, while not having excessive expectations (were are in Latin America, not Asia.). When you are in Panama and want to try something a little bit different - visit the Golden Unicorn Restaurant in the Evergreen Building (it is bright green - can't miss it) right near the ATLAPA convention center. Most dim sum treats come with four (4) pieces which was great for us because my wife and I were dining with two of our friends. And the servers with rolling carts just kept coming and coming. Within seconds of our being seated at our table a server appeared with a cart of dim sum treats. Because many Panamanians are now away from the city, yesterday we did not have to wait in line to enter the Golden Unicorn. That's right the country of Panama closes down for four legal holidays to celebrate its independence and many Panamanians therefore take extended holidays to visit the interior. Actually the legal holidays this year were Thursday November 3, Friday November 4, Thursday November 10 & Monday November 28. Check this out - during November of each year Panama celebrates its independence from Spain (even though at this time Panama was a part of Colombia) and also Panama celebrates its independence from Colombia. However, this is another long holiday week end here in Panama. This restaurant is usually very busy & a person usually must wait in line to enter the Golden Unicorn for Dim Sum treats. Dim Sum - if you are not familiar with dim sum, this is what the Chinese eat for breakfast with tea.
